Kristen + Amanda - short proposal for our final

Theme
In this project we are exploring what it means to share time/an experience with someone and then to move on from that person.  We are interested in shared moments and how one processes those moments and shares them with others later.  It is this shift in perspective -the recontextualization- that we are focusing on and we aim to illustrate this concept with our in-class piece.

All members of the class and visitors will be participants.
The class will be divided into groups of four and will be given a story (we have yet to finalize the content of the story and are not sure if it will be given to the participants by us or if the group members will come up with it on their own).
The group will attempt to illustrate the story on sheets of paper that we will give them.  (Again, we have yet to decide if they will each illustrate the story on a separate sheet, or if they will work together on one illustration - we intend to try both during next week’s presentation).
After a short time working with one story, one member of each group will be asked to present to his/her story to another group by joining his illustration with his new group’s.

The audience interaction really is the idea of the work itself - we are treating the class as a microcosm of our world environment.  The difficulty of the project lies in ensuring that the class will be able to extrapolate from their ten minutes with us to their larger experience.

This week we will spend time isolating exactly what we want the interaction to be for next week’s presentation.  The week after will be focusing down on the content of the stories, and deciding which illustration method was more effective.

We are aligned in our fears about this project - a one minute piece will be presented to the class tomorrow.
