holga shooting

Shooting a role (or two) of strangers with a holga was one of the most challenging assignments I’ve had at ITP. I shot my pictures at a long term care facility where I spend a lot of my time. Because they were all shot indoors, they were pretty low on light and didn’t turn out. I learned a lot though, about approaching strangers and negotiating that interchange.

I’ve been photographing people most of my life, but never shoot strangers. I find that I am heavily dependent on permissioning when shooting. Either it is an interchange between loved ones, or I have permission as someone who has been hired to complete a task and capture a setting.

I’d like to try the holga assignment again, as it would be a great skill to develop.. I’ll try it outdoors.
