I’m thrilled to announce that the Remember the Triangle Fire Coalition will be marching with Workers United (which includes the old Triangle union) in the Labor Day Parade, September 12.
Just received word that we garnered an Experimental Television Center Finishing Fund grant for Magic Box, one of the Fantastic Objects for Alchemy of Light - yay!
Always wanted one & just found it at a flea market near my sister’s place.

More experiments with ephemeral screens. This week Brian Kim & I were experimenting with circular & flat screens and layering front & rear projection.

The wonderful i-Italy chalked and is one of the original endorsers of the Triangle Fire Coalition.
The ever amazing LuLu LoLo rocked the house again this year. Working with East Harlem Preservation, they chalked and commemorated the Triangle Fire.
I’ve been exploring possibilities for projecting on ephemeral surfaces. I’m interested in the possibilities of audiences being able to see through the screen to other viewers and to be able to pass through the screen itself. With the amazing Brian Kim we built this proto-type of a screen made of mist.

This forum will look at the role public history plays in the cultural life of New York City. Speakers include: Ruth Sergel, film maker and artist, creator of CHALK – an annual commemoration of the 1911 Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire; Dave Herman, Fire Fighter and Founder, The City Reliquary; Ron Grele, Professor Emeritus, Columbia University; Brian Purnell, Historian, Fordham University and Research Director, Bronx African American History Project; and Madhulika Khandelwal, Director, Asian/American Center, Queens College.
We’re very happy to report that we recently received grants from the Experimental Television Center and LMCC’s Manhattan Community Arts Fund in support of Alchemy of Light.
Our first public presentation of Alchemy of Light in a work-in-progress showing at the HERE Art Centers Culturemart Jan. 15 & 16.
I’ve started to play with shadow puppet theater for Alchemy of Light. More soon!
